Brighton Personal Development Circle
Your fortnightly dose of positivity, support and motivation
A small evening group to focus on your wellbeing and your personal growth.
It's your chance to be heard, to share your challenges and your dreams, and to create a sense of community with like-minded people.

Maybe you want to achieve something, or maybe you're working on yourself, or maybe you just want to feel more positive and focused. It can be difficult to keep your motivation going when you're doing it all alone, so this is your weekly chance to share yourself in a positive, supportive environment.
While this group is about making progress, our guiding principle is
DO WHAT YOU CAN WITH WHAT YOU HAVE
That means being realistic, and doing what feels possible each day.
If you're feeling great…
…then come along and share your energy and excitement with the group.
If you're feeling low or demotivated…
…then come along, receive some support and feel seen.
Self development isn't about pretending to be ok all the time. It's about being honest, real and determined to do your best each day.
Each session is lead and facilitated by highly experience coach, Alexander Butler.
Come along if you:
Want to reach the best version of yourself, and want to spend time with others who want the same
Are working towards something and you want to get some motivation
Know it's good for you to share your thoughts and feelings in a positive environment
Want to develop new skills and build your confidence

1. CHECK-IN CIRCLE
The facilitator will welcome you to the group and give an overview about how the group works.
Then each person has a chance to check in, which just means share what's uppermost on your mind. It might be sharing your current feelings without any explanation or context, or speaking about your excitement about a recent success. Whatever you like. The important thing is not to prepare anything, but to speak from the heart when it's your turn. Nobody will interrupt you, so it's your chance to be witnessed by a supportive group of people.
This is one of the most effective tools for personal development that exists.
2. CORE EXERCISE
The facilitator will then lead everyone through an exercise. Sometimes the check-in will feel so rich that it'll become the core exercise. Other times, it will be pair work, or a personal exercise that you then share, or a discussion about a topic.
3. ACCOUNTABILITY CIRCLE
At the end of the session each person will have the chance to announce their goals, and update everyone on their progress. Your goal can be large or small, internal or external, and nobody will intervene, judge or challenge you, this is just a chance to get some accountability by being heard by the group.

• Confidentiality
Please do not share what others say beyond the group. You are welcome to share your own thoughts, feelings and words, but please keep the words of others confidential.
• Punctuality
Please don't be late as it can be disruptive and you might miss crucial information at the beginning
• Compassionate non-judgement
We are all there to support and encourage one another. Try to be mindful of your own emotional responses or judgements. Nobody else in the group is responsible for any of your feelings, so please do your best to manage yourself and bring compassion to others.
• Co-creating a positive environment
We are all focused on making a positive, supportive environment for ourselves and others. We want the best for each other. Do your best to be attentive, interested and engaged with others in the group.
• Mutual respect
We aim to act with respect towards one another
• Boundaries
Please try to balance your open-hearted vulnerability with healthy boundaries, just sharing what's appropriate. Try not to emotionally 'dump' on others.
• Avoid the Drama Triangle
The three roles in the Drama Triangle are the Victim ("poor me"), the Rescuer ("let me help you") and the Persecutor ("it's all your fault"). Sometimes we'll cover this idea in the core exercise. Try not to fall into any of these roles.
